Your kid has energy to burn, a playlist that never stops, and a suspiciously good sense of rhythm for someone who "can't sit still." Sound familiar? Then you've probably typed kids salsa classes in Orlando into a search bar at least once.

Here's the short version: at Salsa Heat Dance Studio, kids' salsa is split into two age groups, ages 5 to 8 and ages 9 to 15, and each group has its own class on Wednesday afternoons. Below is how to choose, what it costs, and how to get your child on the floor.

Why Two Age Groups Instead of One?

A 5-year-old and a 14-year-old don't want the same thing from a dance class. Little kids tend to learn through play, repetition and movement they can copy right away. Older kids and teens are usually more self-conscious, more curious about the "real" dance, and more motivated when they feel they're being taken seriously.

Splitting the classes means nobody is dragged along at the wrong speed, and nobody feels too big or too small for the room.

Which Class Should Your Child Join?

Choose ages 5–8 if your child is still in the "wiggle first, ask questions later" stage, or has never taken a dance class and would do best with a room of kids their own size.

Choose ages 9–15 if your child can follow multi-step instructions, doesn't mind being a beginner in front of others, or is curious about dancing with people their own age (a good fit for pre-teens and teens who might otherwise say "dance isn't for me").

Right on the edge? An 8-year-old who's confident and focused, or a 9-year-old who's more shy, could do well in either group. If you're unsure, call the studio at (407) 275-0943 and ask which class fits your child best. It's a quick question, and it's better than guessing.

What Does It Cost?

Salsa Kids is $110, valid for one month. You can purchase it online or pay directly at the studio.

For comparison, adult classes run on a different pricing structure: a $20 drop-in or class packages starting at $99 for 10 classes. If you'd like to see how those compare, we break it all down in our complete salsa pricing guide.

What Should My Child Wear and Bring?

Keep it simple: comfortable clothes they can move in, closed-toe shoes that aren't sticky on the floor (smooth soles are best for turning), and a water bottle. Fancy outfits aren't needed. Our dress code guide covers the shoe question in more detail, and most of it applies to kids too.

Parents: Here's How to Make the First Class Easier

  • Arrive a few minutes early. A calm start beats a rushed one, especially for younger kids.

  • Skip the pressure. "Have fun" works better than "do it right." Nobody is evaluating anyone on day one.

  • Free parking is available at our Orlando studio, so you can drop off and settle in without circling the block.

  • Come with questions. If you want to know anything about the class, call the studio at (407) 275-0943.
